1. Who we are

Life in the UK: Flashcards ("the App") is developed and operated by Aga Drapinska-Tonge. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at hello@byaga.dev.

2. What data we collect

The App is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. There is no account, and we never ask for your name, email address or your answers to quiz questions.

Data stored only on your device (never sent to us):

• Your study progress (which questions you have answered)
• Bookmarked questions
• App settings (notification time, audio mode, cards per session)
• Spaced-repetition scheduling data

What we do not collect ourselves:

• Your name, email address or other personal identifiers
• Location data
• Your answers to individual quiz questions
• Payment details (processed entirely by Apple — we never see them)

Data collected via the Meta (Facebook) SDK for ad measurement — only if you consent to it on the prompt shown on first launch. See section 5 for full detail. In summary: basic device information (model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, IP address), a small set of app events (install, app open, in-app purchases with price and currency), and an app-generated anonymous identifier. The App does not access the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).

3. How we use your data

Study data stored on your device is used solely to provide the study features — tracking progress, scheduling reviews, saving bookmarks. We have no access to this on-device data. Data collected via the Meta SDK is used only to measure the performance of our advertising and to help us understand aggregated app usage (see section 5).

4. Third-party services

The App integrates two third-party services:

• Apple StoreKit — handles all in-app purchases and payment processing. See Apple's privacy policy.
• Meta (Facebook) SDK — measures installs and purchases attributed to our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. See section 5 below and Meta's privacy policy.

5. Meta (Facebook) SDK

The App includes Meta's iOS SDK so we can measure how our advertising performs.

What is collected:

• Device information: model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone and IP address
• App events: install, app opens, and in-app purchases (including price and currency)
• An app-generated anonymous identifier that Meta uses to attribute these events

Purpose: measuring advertising performance (attributing installs and purchases to specific ads) and aggregated analytics about how the App is used.

Who receives this data: Meta Platforms, Inc. For users in the UK and EEA, the data controller is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. Meta's own privacy policy explains how it processes this data.

Tracking: the App does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission and does not access the iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA). This means no cross-app or cross-website advertising identifier is shared with Meta.

Your controls:

• iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking lets you review and control tracking permissions for apps on your device.
• Deleting the App removes all locally stored study progress from your device.
• Meta provides additional controls in your Meta account settings.

Lawful basis under UK GDPR: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), together with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) where they apply. The Meta SDK is only initialised after you tap "Allow" on the consent prompt shown on first launch. You can withdraw consent at any time in the App under Settings → "Share ad measurement data with Meta". Withdrawing consent stops any future sharing; data already sent to Meta before you withdrew is handled under Meta's own privacy policy.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. The only third parties that receive any data about your use of the App are those described in sections 4 and 5 above — Apple (for in-app purchases) and Meta (for advertising measurement).

7. Data retention and deletion

Study data is stored in your device's local storage. You can delete it at any time by deleting the App from your device. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data permanently. Data sent to Meta is retained according to Meta's own retention policies (see Meta's privacy policy); data processed by Apple for payment is retained according to Apple's policies.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. It contains no in-app advertising and no social features. Note, however, that the Meta SDK described in section 5 collects data that is used to measure the performance of ads shown elsewhere on Meta's platforms.

9. Your rights

For any data held only on your device, deleting the App is sufficient. For data processed by Meta, you can exercise your UK GDPR rights (access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection) with Meta directly, or contact us at hello@byaga.dev and we will help route your request. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at lifeintheukflashcards.com/privacy/ and within the App under Settings > About.
